The phrase is a provocation with a purpose. This Volume challenges the clean, marketable version of electrical history in which one famous name absorbs the work, conflict, risk, and invention around it.

Episode 1 begins by documenting what Edison’s Pearl Street system accomplished. Episode 2 follows Tesla's early years in New York and the difficult road that preceded his later work. Future Episodes move through rival systems, disputed credit, and the contributions that shaped the electrical world we inherited.

The story develops one Episode at a time. It begins with a working station and a city district coming to light—and asks you to keep looking beyond the name attached to the achievement.

The artwork is an artistic interpretation, not a documentary reconstruction. The accompanying literature separates the scene we imagine from what the surviving record supports. The mug represents the Volume as a whole.
